Book recommendation

Good morning boys and girls! I’m Mr Newman and today I want to talk about a book that I really like.

This book is called “Bluey. Christmas Swim!”

It is written by Joe Brumm. He is the illustrator too! Bluey is a famous TV show and there are many Bluey books and toys. This book is about Christmas in Australia. But in December, in Australia, it is summer not winter. So it is hot and people don’t wear warm clothes. People love to enjoy outdoor activities like swimming, going to the beach, hiking, fishing, playing cricket or having a picnic or BBQ. If you read this book, you will learn about Christmas in Australia. 

The main character is a little puppy called Bluey. She is blue and her sister, Bingo is orange. She is a funny and brave girl who loves to play. She is very creative and has a big imagination. Her parents love to play games with her. Bluey’s family visit her cousins’ house on Christmas Day. Grandma, her uncle, her two cousins and her little sister, Bingo are there. Mum and dad come too. The story is very funny. In the morning, they open Christmas presents. Bluey gets a new doll for Christmas and introduces it to her family. She calls it Bartlebee. After that, they go for a swim in the swimming pool. They play with their new toys and play games in the pool. Finally, they share Christmas lunch with each other. Christmas lunch in Australia includes seafood like crabs and prawns, fresh fruit like mangos and watermelon, and lots of meat!

I love this book because the author and illustrator, Joe Brumm, is from my home town, Brisbane. It reminds me of my home. Bluey is also a TV show. It is very popular around the world. The illustrations are very colourful and the characters (who are all dogs) look great. If you like Peppa Pig you will like this book. But it’s way better!
